The Clinical Coordinator, under the direction of the Manager, is responsible for the daily operations, organization and functioning of the unit. The incumbent coordinates and evaluates human and material resources to ensure provision of quality patient care. The incumbent promotes and monitors quality nursing care by assisting with the establishment and maintenance of nursing care standards, policies and procedures and by participating in quality improvement and research activities. The coordinator assists with identifying educational needs of the staff, orientation and education, and evaluation of the progress of staff development. The incumbent functions as a role model and clinical resource for nursing staff and all member of the multidisciplinary team on issues affecting patients. The incumbent acts as an advocate for patient/family and staff/physicians. The coordinator provides direct patient care as required. Job Qualifications Required Qualifications
Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Nursing Registered or eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association (SRNA) Current CPR Certification
Experience
Minimum of five (5) years recent acute care nursing experience, three (3) of which must be in the specific clinical area and/or involve charge nurse or coordination experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of leadership strategies in order to lead, encourage, advise and cooperate with colleagues to promote and maintain positive relationships, to achieve patient/resident/client team and organizational goals within available resources. Knowledge of communication techniques and approaches in order to adapt to multiple and ever changing situations and environments Knowledge of the role of the specific clinical area within the entire health system Knowledge of critical thinking processes in order to creatively solve problems in an open and resourceful manner Knowledge of conflict resolution techniques Knowledge of policy and procedure development and quality assurance initiatives Valid class 5 driver's license Knowledge of current trends, issues and perspectives of nursing in the specific clinical area
Other Information
NOTE: This is a Provincial Posting and is open to all SUN members within the bargaining unit as per Articles 27.02 and 27.05 of the SUN Collective Bargaining Agreement. First preference will be given to employees of the SKHA (Saskatoon) and its affiliated agencies. The Clinical Coordinator will support caseloads and clients in the Acute Facilities, as well as will work closely with the Home Care Team in providing support to those clients.
